Permanent residence application
To apply for permanent residence, you must meet the following requirements:

Pension and health insurance requirements
In principle, your pension and health insurance enrollment status from the time you first came to Japan for a long period of time up to the present will be reviewed. In particular, any delays in payment for the past two years will not be recognized.

*This includes the issuance fee (actual cost) paid to the Japanese government office. The set of documents to be obtained from the Japanese government office includes the residence certificate, resident tax assessment and payment certificates (for 3 to 5 years each) obtained from the city hall, tax payment certificates obtained from the tax office, documents obtained from the pension office, and family register copies of Japanese relatives. Usually, these costs alone cost between 10,000 and 30,000 yen.
*When you are granted permanent residence, you will need to pay revenue stamps (10,000 yen) to the Immigration Bureau.
